Stem cells
I’m an atheist, but I have to admit that I don’t totally agree with the idea put forward in the comic. This analogy may be stretching it but on the right track: It’s like saying to a hungry vegetarian that eating an animal that has already died of natural causes is a bad as killing an animal for food. I think stem cell research is justified and “moral”, but I can see why some religious people have their reservations about the idea. And if despite their best efforts, the “morally wrong” stem cell research goes ahead and new treatments for diseases are found, then sure they should take advantage of the new technology. I honestly don’t see a strong hypocrisy here. Hopefully the experience would enlighten them a little, however.
On the other hand, I’ve long held the belief that only self-proclaimed organ donors and all children should be the recipients of organ donations. If there are any left, then let the non-donors benefit from the donations.
